Alan Drayton - Managing Director

Alan has long had a passion for all forms of natural building, from earth-building, to using locally sourced timbers and rock.

“I love research and development and am always looking to improve or add new products to what we can offer.” Alan is currently working with earth plasters and developing rammed earth improvements.

A member of New Zealand Certified Builders, Alan is a qualified Carpenter and Licensed Building Practitioner with Site2 certification.

“I love to talk about my favourite subjects, then just get on with it and get it done.”

Sharon

Sharon - Admin and Support

Supporting the whole team with the administrative side of the business, Sharon connects the people and the resources that make BioBuild tick.

“Wellbeing for people and the planet is the legacy that we all want to leave for future generations.  I love understanding how ecosystems work and our place within that, to enhance quality of life.”

Sharon has had a varied career and study history.  From office management and administration, child-development, Diplomas in Landscape Design and Positive Psychology, the breadth of her experience brings a rounded skillset to supporting the team.

Jacob

Jacob Drayton - Carpenter

After several years as an aircraft engineer, Jake joined the family business, becoming a skilled carpenter and site foreman.

“Our homes should not make us sick, so working for BioBuild is great as we create healthy environments in a sustainable way.”

Jacob is a BCITO qualified carpenter, with a broad range of skills brought from his engineering background.

Dylan

Dylan Brunton - Carpenter

Dylan has always been excited by the practical challenge and technical knowledge required to be a skillful carpenter.

“I’m keen to reduce the waste of materials and the carbon emissions of the building industry. Natural materials are a great way to do this., and are safer and healthier for us as builders.”

Dylan is a BCITO qualified carpenter, trained scaffolder and first aid certificate holder.

Jeremy Buck - Carpenter

Building healthy and low-energy homes drives Jeremy in his carpentry and project management work for BioBuild.

“After trying out physics, marketing and student union politics in the United Kingdom, I thought I would give eco-building a go. I’m excited to reduce waste and energy use, and build more sustainable homes and communities.”

Jeremy is a BCITO qualified Carpenter, and accredited Passive House Tradesperson.
